Homeschoolers East is a diverse, inclusive and non-discriminatory group of home-educating families providing educational opportunities east of Dallas Hwy. 75. We strive to create a supportive community that welcomes homeschoolers from many backgrounds. We choose not to discriminate and work toward the goal of unity in diversity.

Homeschoolers East works to build a community where each person is valued for their individuality, knowledge and talents. We work to provide educational opportunities that develop academic and inner potential. In addition, Homeschoolers East promotes family partnership and service in the community.

Parents of Homeschoolers East accept responsibility for appropriately guiding children’s behavior when necessary. We encourage cooperation and kindness among our children. We value spiritedness and freedom of expression, but do not condone divisive play, child-on-child aggression, hurtful words, or unsafe actions.

The members of Homeschoolers East strive for consensus and unity when making decisions and, therefore, follow the Guidelines for Consultation. Our goal is to discover the best course of action to take for the well-being of all, fostering unity of purpose and mission – not unity of opinion.

VISION

Homeschoolers East’s vision is to serve and support a truly diverse and unified homeschool cooperative. Our goal is to provide educational experiences for home-school families from diverse backgrounds, cultures, religions and beliefs that not only bring about the advancement of the individual, but as a result, the betterment of the community. This vision motivates the activities of the group and promotes a particular vision of the world, the family, the child, the parent, the educator, and the role of education. Homeschoolers East is animated by the vision that:
  • The Family is the bedrock of human society. The peace and unity of society is dependent upon the peace and unity of the family
  • The Child is the promise and guarantee of the future. Children bear the seeds of the character of future society and are in need of guidance and training
  • The Parent is the primary educator of the child. Parents exercise indispensable influence through the home environment they consciously create
  • The Educator is a model and a guide. The role of the educator is to bring forth from the child whatever perfections and capacities are within, assisting the child to reach their highest level of achievement
  • Education is the indispensable foundation of all human excellence and assists the individual to reveal their inner potential to benefit their community
